A Prayer to St. Cecilia

A quartet reminiscent of sacred music from centuries past. The starting point was based on the minim being the most important note in early music as a representation of the heartbeat, and the heartbeat being generally slower in medieval times without modern stresses. Part way through writing this piece I put the question out to the universe - “but what is its name?” It was a surprise when the answer immediately came back “A Prayer to St. Cecilia”. Who was St. Cecilia I wondered… turns out she’s the patron saint of music.
A few high-ish notes and with a minim (half-note) pulse but not complicated and suitable for players from improvers standard up.
Instrumentation: 4 parts S,A,T,B
